Description
Departures from Piano Provenzana, located on the north side of Mount Etna, at 6:00 p.m.
​From Piano Provenzana, situated 1,800 meters above sea level, you will reach the Vulcanological Observatory at 3,000 meters.
Embark on an unforgettable sunset high-altitude adventure on the north side of Mount Etna, using specialized and authorized off-road buses.
During the ascent, the first stop offers a view of buildings swallowed by lava, followed by a visit to the "buttonhole" craters formed during the eruption on October 27, 2002.
You will then move on to the "Umberto and Margherita" craters, located at about 2,380 meters, where you can take a short hike along the crater rims.
Continuing the journey, you will arrive at the Pizzi Deneri Vulcanological Observatory. Here, you will disembark from the off-road bus and, accompanied by guides, embark on a brief 15-minute hike to the summit of Pizzi Deneri, at 3,000 meters above sea level.
After about 2.5 hours, you will return to the starting point aboard the off-road bus, thus concluding this thrilling adventure.
